**The storm named Irene did a bit of damage and made quite a mess by forcing the Battenkill to chose a straight path between the buildings at our park rather than taking its curve around the back of the museum. It might have been much more damaging; after all the river water recedes we’ll have repair work and clean up, but no losses to grieve, per se. The Georgi is more fortunate than many of its neighbors, though, and while we’re thankful, we are sorry for their losses.** Please watch this page (or the Facebook page, Georgi on the Battenkill) for information about the clean-up - we have events in September to “beautify” for. The grounds are open dawn to dusk throughout the year. The Museum is open during the summer by appointment.The Georgi Estate is situated on nine acres along a curve of the Battenkill. This side of the kill is in Salem township; the far side in the Town of Jackson. Bring a picnic to our nine acre park on the banks of the Battenkill. Enjoy the lush lawns and beautiful gardens, visit our unique collection of 14th and 15th Century paintings and examine Henry Georgi's vast mineral collection. Please contact us if you would like to hold your event on the grounds. We have hosted weddings, family reunions and many private parties. The gardens are rich with perennial flowers and shrubs. It is a lovely setting for photography, painting, sketching or just relaxing.
There's a wonderful deep swimming hole right on the curve of the river, and for generations, the kids of Shushan enjoyed swimming there on hot summer days. Fishing was a favorite of young and old.
No matter what the season, The Georgi on the Battenkill is a peaceful, relaxing destination.
