The Georgi in Shushan is offering a LARAC* funded Summer Music Program for teens Monday, July 27th through Friday, July 31st, 10 to 2 each day, with a celebratory gathering/concert on the evening of Friday the 31st.The theme will be Teaching young musicians how to play together and will be taught by Barry Hyman.
This program is open to young musicians who already know how to play an instrument or sing and who want to learn more about how to play with other people: how to run a rehearsal, the music theory that gets everybody in the same key, how to teach new songs to a band, how to balance everybody's volume, how to arrange the various instruments, how to get a repertoire performance-ready, etc.
Join us at the concert celebrating the accomplishments of our summer music students, Friday, July 31st at 7 pm on the lawn. ($5 per person, $10 per family) The concert will be a culmination of a week-long seminar sponsored in part by LARAC and NYSCA and taught by Barry Hyman. The music promises to be such fun! Enjoy a picnic beforehand and enjoy our lovely 9 acre park on the Battenkill. There are still a few openings for the seminar, too. Contact Cheryl Baldwin at 518-854-3773 or visit www.thegeorgi.com.
The Georgi received a grant from the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council which very kindly covers most of the costs, and students will pay only $60 for the week-long program. Space is limited, To register, contact Cheryl Baldwin, cjbaldwin@hughes.net or 518-854-3936.
